1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how StudBud ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit websites. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give website owners information about how their sites are used.
3. Types of cookies we use
3.1 Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the Service to function properly and cannot be switched off in our systems. - Load balancing cookies that distribute traffic to make the Service more efficient
3.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies enable the Service to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, some or all of these services may not function properly.
Examples include:
- Cookies that remember your preferences and settings
- Cookies that remember your study progress and history
- Cookies that personalize your learning experience
3.3 Performance and Analytics Cookies
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Service. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our Service.
Examples include:
- Cookies that gather analytics data to help us understand how you interact with our Service
- Cookies that measure site performance and identify areas for improvement
- Cookies that track usage patterns to optimize content delivery
3.4 Targeting and Advertising Cookies
These cookies may be set through our Service by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites. They do not directly store personal information but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device.
Examples include:
- Cookies used for retargeting or behavioral advertising
- Cookies that track advertising campaign effectiveness
- Cookies that facilitate A/B testing of different feature variants
Important Note: While we may have the capability to use targeting and advertising cookies, we currently do not sell cookie information for tracking purposes. We believe in respecting your privacy and maintaining your trust. However, we include this section to cover potential future uses of cookies on our Service. Should our practices change, we will update this policy accordingly.
4. Third-party cookies
In addition to our own cookies, we may also use various third-party cookies to report usage statistics of the Service and deliver advertisements on and through the Service. These may include:
- Analytics providers (such as Google Analytics)
- Advertising networks
- Social media platforms
- Content partners
Cookie Information and Data Sales: We want to emphasize that we do not sell cookie information or data collected through cookies to third parties for tracking or advertising purposes. While we may share certain information with the third parties listed above to provide and improve our Service, we do not engage in the sale of your cookie data. This policy clause is included to cover potential future uses, although we currently maintain strict limitations on how cookie data is shared.
5. Cookie management

Most web browsers allow you to manage your cookie preferences. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, delete cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. The methods for doing so vary from browser to browser, and from version to version.

5.3 Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature that signals to websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. We currently do not respond to Do Not Track browser signals.
6. Data retention
Different cookies have different lifespans:
- Session cookies: These are temporary and expire when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: These remain on your device until they expire or until you delete them manually.
The specific retention period for each cookie depends on its purpose and is set by us or third-party providers.
